Counselling and Therapy

Montreal Therapy Centre

The Montreal Therapy Centre was founded in 2003 by three passionate classmates who believed that everyone should have access to affordable mental health care. With cutbacks to the public health system, psychotherapy was becoming more difficult to access at the same time that the need for these services was growing. They believed that mental health is the foundation for well-being, solid families and a strong community and so are committed to build an organization to meet these needs. From their humble beginnings, MTC has grown to include nearly 100 professionals providing therapy in 17 languages.

Legal Advice and Advocacy

Action Autonomie

Action Autonomie is a Montreal-based community organization dedicated to defending the rights of individuals who have used mental health services, whether voluntarily or not.  Their advocacy advisors help Montrealers experiencing problems with the health care system. They inform people of their rights (access to services, choice of professional, consent to care...) and of the laws and recourses concerning the problems they encounter. When the problems encountered do not concern mental health rights and recourses, or when people call from outside Montreal, they refer them to the appropriate places for help.
